Liberian Girl

First and MOST IMPORTANTLY, this is not the American flag but a Liberian one. My mother, from the Vi tribe, and father, the Bassa tribe, were both raised in Liberia and came here for better education. I remember when i was younger i would hate my heritage as i suppose most kids do. I had all white friends that would ask ignorant questions and being young and not knowing that they were wrong i would get defensive and mad. Now, i love being an 100% liberian. I love it because some don't. Some people say things like "No im not African, I'm 10% Indian too", giving the empression that it's nasty or insulting to be African. But me, i rep it to the fullest. It's funny cause now i bring African food to lunch and everything. I've learned to appreciate that Blacks can say their ancestors are African but I can name them. I can give you the exact tribe i am from, the exact street and area they lived in and the funny storys my parents have as if i was born and raised there myself.
